Aileen is the newest member to join Niamh and Alison at the the Physio Centre Mountmellick.
She is a keen athlete, representing her local clubs, sarsfields lfc, o’moores camogie, and mountmellick utd in ladies football, camogie and soccer respectively. She has represented laois at juvenile level in both football and camogie and continued to represent laois senior ladies from 2000 – 2016, winning a senior all ireland medal in 2001.
Aileen has also represented her country on the Irish women’s u19 soccer team. While living abroad in Australia, Aileen undertook her qualification in fitness instruction and personal training along with completing her pilates instructors course. She returned to Ireland to complete her bsc degree in sports rehabilitation and athletic therapy at it Carlow from which she has recently qualified with a first class honours. Aileen is a certified member of Athletic Rehabilitation Therapists Ireland (arti).
She has a keen interest in the area of athletic rehabilitation and physical activity and currently works part time in the clinic as she is also completing an Irish research council research masters in conjunction with the GAA. Her area of research asks “does increased education and awareness of physical activity increase adolescent’s participation in physical activity and consequently increase positive well-being? A prospective analytical cohort study to investigate and propose a mechanism to meet a societal need.”
